Herman A. Shields founds Pioneer Products, which becomes the hard-to-find parts source for the automotive aftermarket. 1946

1948

Pioneer Products is incorporated. Clutch parts added.
Pioneer purchases Biltmore Products, enters engine parts market. 1969
1972 Pioneer enters high performance engine parts market. Clutch bearing line added.
Pioneer acquires tooling and inventory of Perfection Gear. 1974  
  1975 Ring gears added to Pioneer's clutch parts line.
Pioneer purchases Lusco Products adds to shop supplies line. 1976  
  1979 The Barnes Group purchases Pioneer from the Shields' family.
Flywheels added to product line. 1981
1982 Cerritos, California warehouse added to improve West Coast service.
Pioneer enters shop supplies market. 1983
  1985 Pioneer/Barnes builds new headquarters, warehousing facility in Meridian, MS. Acquired clutch tooling from Dorman Products. Entry into water pump remanufacturing components market. Mt. Laurel, New Jersey warehouse added to service East Coast customers.
Pioneer/Barnes enters controller cable market. Focuses powertrain line to traditional and retail aftermarket. 1986
  1993 UIS purchase Pioneer from the Barnes Group.
Meridian warehouse adds 12,000 sq. ft. mezzanine. Water pump bearings added to water pump line. 1994
  1995 Automatic transmission parts added to powertrain line. Cover assembly kits, unlined clutch discs added to clutch parts line.
Pioneer celebrates 50th Anniversary. 1996
  1997 Introduction of Engine & Transmission Mounts.
Expansion of corporate offices and Meridian warehouse facilities. 1998
  1999 Introduction of Harmonic Balancers. Product line includes: Standard OE replacement, heavy duty, street level performance and SFI racing balancers.
Acquired a manufacturing/distribution company, New Clutch Company, and set up Pioneer Clutch Division in Oklahoma City, OK. 2000  
  2003 Carlyle Group purchases the automotive companies owned by U.I.S.  Pioneer becomes a part of a new Carlyle company, U.C.I., United Components, Inc.
